This is a post for my BHS people looking to see what I've done in the past 10 years. (Has it really been 10 years already?)
After that wonderfully short graduation and black threatening storm clouds, I spend a summer working in the area and then it was off to Ricks College for 2 years. I majored in English with a lot of horseback riding classes thrown in there for fun. I spent a summer teaching horseback riding to Girl Scouts and living in a tent for 10 weeks. Good times.
Since when I went to Ricks College when it was still a 2 year college, I transfered down to BYU for my junior and senior years. While at BYU, I met up with Jeff Watson (another BHS alumi class of 97) and we started dating.
About a year later, we were married in 2001. I finished up my college career, and then I worked at the MTC while Jeff finished up his degree in Engineering.
Jeff was accepted to graduate school at George Washington University in Washington, DC. We moved to the DC area in August of 2003. We bought a dog. I was able to get a job at an infertility clinic in the area as a receptionist. I worked there until May of 2005 when we had our first daughter, Vanessa (8 lbs, 10 oz). Jeff had a final the night after she was born. I don't think he did very good!
In September of 2007 we discovered we were pregnant again. This time with TWINS. I was due on Vanessa's 3rd birthday. From the moment we discovered we were having twins, our life revolved around a healthy very high risk pregnancy. I was put on bedrest around 32 weeks, and our boys were born at 36 weeks in April of 2008. Both were very healthy and big (5 lbs, 13 oz and 6 lbs, 3 oz) and were able to come home with me. We named them Westley and Xavier.
Let me tell you, going from 1 kid to 3 kids in one shot is hard. Especially since Vanessa was still not 3 when they were born. I had 3 kids under 3 for about a month. It was tough. But we are working through it and starting to live again, and not just survive.
I've loved reading everyone's blogs and catching up on some familiar names and faces. I miss the reunion by one week. I have a trip scheduled to stay with my parents for a month but sadly I fly in the weekend after the reunion! Hopefully I can catch everyone for the 20th.
I have a private blog if you'd like to be blogging buddies and keep in touch that way. I'd love to hear from any of my old pals!! Please email me at safirecat at gmail dot com.
Go BHS!
